An exhibition titled “Opus 7” introduces the best oil paintings by Vietnamese artist Nguyen Dinh Dang from 1997 to 2009 in Tokyo, Japan from March 29 to May 29.

“Exit” by Nguyen Dinh Dang.

This is the third solo exhibition of Nguyen Dinh Dang in Japan.

Dang’s paintings reflect both eastern and western culture. Of the 21 oil paintings, 8 are related to music, inspired by Chopin and Debussy.

At the opening on April 3, Nguyen Dinh Dang will play Chopin’s “Nocturne on Fazioli F 308,” on the longest piano in the world (3.08m) with Japanese pianist Yanagi Shunichi.

Dang’s paintings are closely related to music because he is a physicist with a passion for both piano and paintings, which is why Italy’s Fazioli Piano Company organized this exhibition.

Dang was born in 1958 in Hanoi and studied painting and music as a boy. Leaving high school, he was sent to Russia to study nuclear physics. He obtained a doctorate in nuclear physics in 1985 and doctorate in science in 1990 at Moscow University.

Since 1994 he has researched nuclear physics at the RIKEN institute in Japan. He became a member of the Vietnam Art Association in 1987 and a member of the Japanese Art Association in 2005. He has had many exhibitions in Russia, Vietnam and Japan since 1985.
