Vietnam wins five gold medals at Asia piano contest

VnnNews – Students from the Vietnam National Academy of Music won five gold medals and one silver at the Asia Piano Academy Festival and Competition in Cheonan, South Korea from July 20-23.

The Vietnamese delegation participated in the Asia Piano Academy Festival and Competition in Cheonan, South Korea

 

The competition drew 46 pianists from 6 countries, including South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

 

The judging panel had seven members, including famous piano professors like Prof. Chang Hae Won, chairman of the Korean Piano Association, Prof. Fumiko Eguchi, Chairman of the Piano Academy and member of National Association of Japanese Piano Professors and Vietnam’s Prof., Dr. Tran Thu Ha.

 

The Vietnamese pianists were led by Dr. Ta Quang Dong and lecturers Bui Cong Duy and Nguyen Trinh Huong.

 

The Vietnamese contestants are students at the Piano Faculty of the Vietnam National Academy of Music. They were highly praised by the panel of judges for their impressive performance and self-confidence.

 

Along with the six awards won at the Sydney Piano Competition in early July by two students Luu Hong Quang and Luu Duc Anh, this performance earned the Vietnam National Academy of Music’s international fame.

 

The academy is preparing for the first international piano contest in Vietnam this September.

 

The six winners: Hoang Tra Mi, Dang Thi Bich Thuy, Duong Hong Thach, Nguyen Ha Uyen, Nguyen The Vinh and Dinh Hong Trang.
