VnnNews – High school final exams are over and it’s now time for intensive preparatory centers for university entrance exams to open.

To Hien Thanh Exam Preparation Centre, located next to HCM City University of Technology has leaflets to introduce the center, as well as newspaper ads, calling the center the best in HCM City with lecturers from the most prestigious schools.
To lure more students, the center allows them to attend free of charge for two weeks. Students will only officially register and pay tuition if they like the center.
A center officer explained that intensive preparatory class for A-group university entrance exams (math, physics, and chemistry) will open on June 7. There will be two A-group exam preparatory classes with tuitions of one million dong per course for full classes and 1.5 million dong per course for those with less than 20 students.
Chu Van An Exam Preparation Center advertised a tuition package for 1.2 million dong and those residing in the center’s dormitory, pay 300,000 dong more.

Despite these extensive efforts, exam preparation centers remain quiet. Khai Nguyen, Chua Van An, Vinh Vien and the
Chu Van An Centre attracted 100 learners by June 6, but began receiving students in early March. The situation is the same at other centers.
Explaining the empty classrooms, education analysts explain that students nowadays think they do not have to attend prep classes in big cities, since exam prep centers in rural areas have been mushrooming over the last few years. Moreover, many students review for exams on their own rather than attending exam preparation classes.
