According to www.tournamentsoftware.com, Tien Minh was easily trounced by Tago for 21-10 in the first round. In the second round, he rallied, but the round finished 17-21 in favor of the Japanese player.

Tien Minh was the second to say goodbye to the tournament in the first match.

Two years ago, in his first appearance at the UK Super Series 2008, Tien Minh had four winning matches to enter the 1/16 round. His winning run was upset by the former world champion, Hidayat Taufit (Indonesia) at 1-2.

After this major loss, Tien Minh and his Indonesian coach, Suharno Asep, must prepare for the Swiss Super Series 2010 from March 16-21, where Tien Minh is also ranked 7th.
