This charity restaurant opened in mid-2009 by members of an online forum named “The One I Help.” A sign hung on the restaurant’s door reads: “Serves Poor Students and Poor People.”< />

Several chefs are hired, other staff are student volunteers. The restaurant’s manager remarked: “We charge them 2000 dong a meal to make them think that they incur no debt and the meals are not free of charge.”

Poor people queued to wait for their turn next to a parking lot.

The line was very long. All customers were tired because they had to wait for a long time.

Disabled people were served first, right on the pavement.

The restaurant was very crowded with workers and students. This is the house of a forum member. The restaurant only serves on the spot.

Customers can choose servings with a lot or less rice, which are placed on shelves.

With only 2000 dong ($0.10), each serving has rice, vegetable, egg or pork.

Readers who wish to help the charity restaurant, please contact: 14/1 Ngo Quyen, Ward 5, District 10 or http://www.nguoitoicuumang.com/. The forum organizer is Mr. Anh, telephone 0916.092600
