Longest Tet cake served in Nha Trang

The longest Banh Tet ever was served at a special event in the central resort city of Nha Trang on Tuesday. 

The glutinous rice cake that is a traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) specialty measured 35 meters in length and was made from 400 kilograms of glutinous rice and 60 kilograms of green peas.

 

It took 400 kilograms of banana leaves to wrap the cake.

 

Another 999 normal Banh Tet cakes of around 35 centimeters in length were also sold at the Tuesday event to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi this year.

 

Proceeds from the event would be donated to charity restaurants at local hospitals, organizers said.

 

The Banh Tet Festival is an annual event in Nha Trang. It was first held in the resort city in 2004 when Nha Trang Bay was named one of the most beautiful bays in the world.

 

Since then the city has been holding the record for the country’s biggest banh Tet, making it one meter longer every year.
