Painter Ha Manh Thang. |
The exhibition entitled “Not Memory” is a new step of progress in Thang’s career. This is his gift for his newborn son, named Ha Manh Khoi, a set of paintings inspired by history.
“I want to emphasise our attitude when we face history or memories. We can’t judge but only face it with a sincere attitude,” Thang explained.
Thang is one of the outstanding young painters in Vietnam. He has had exhibitions in Singapore and Germany. “Not Memory” will go to Singapore in September and the US in December 2010.

Thang’s style is compared to China’s famous painters Yue Minjun and Wang Guanguyj for serious social criticism. He combines old images and contemporary symbols in paintings have a historical dialogue between Vietnam’s history and western materials.
“Memory is likely a small thorn that hits your heart whenever you recall it. Because memory can’t change,” Thang observed.
