The Song Lam Nghe An club has offered striker Van Quyen, a former member of the national squad, a new three-year contract with monthly wage of 30 million dong.

In 2008, Van Quyen refused attractive invitations from Ninh Binh and T&T Hanoi to sign with Song Lam Nghe An for two more years. At that time, he received 800 million dong of fees and monthly wage of 20 million dong. His two-year contract will expire in January 2011.
Before V-League 2009, Song Lam Nghe An club was privatized and lost some key players, including striker Le Cong Vinh. The company’s major shareholder – the Northeastern Bank – asked the firm to try to hold other pillars like Huy Hoang and Van Quyen. Hoang committed stay with the team under a year to year contract.
The total compensation package offered Quyen is said to be worth eight billion dong. Previously, Ninh Binh paid seven billion dong to Nhu Thanh (from Binh Duong club) and Viet Thang (Dong Tam Long An) while T&T Hanoi paid seven billion dong to have Le Cong Vinh from Song Lam Nghe An.
Song Lam Nghe An believes that its offer can keep Van Quyen, who was the top striker in Vietnam several years ago, and one of the two remaining symbols of the team (besides Huy Hoang). However, Quyen’s recent performance has disappointed.
Before the V-League 2010, he was fined 5 million dong for violating the team’s rules. He recently suffered from a traffic accident, which has affected his performance.
Song Lam Nghe An has so far played four matchs in the 2010 football season but Quyen has played only 45 minutes.
