VietNamNet Bridge –Between October 5-8, flood tides of up to 1.44m high are expected to hit HCM City.

The Southern Region Hydrometeorology Forecasting Station said a flood tide and floods from upper reaches will combine to make the water level in southern rivers rise considerably.

Notably, the peak will come on the evening of October 6 but will reduce on October 7-8.

Le Thi Xuan Lan from the Southern Region Hydrometeorology Forecasting Station said that in the morning of October 5, when flood tides were measured at 1.35m, many areas in HCM City were flooded by 10-20cm.

“If it rains, many more roads will be flooded when the flood tide rises,” Lan said.

The National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting also announced that the water level in the Cuu Long (Mekong) river is increasing quickly because of flood tides and floods from the upper reaches.
