First casino in Da Nang opens

VnnNews - Crowne International Casino in the central city of Da Nang will open to guests on December 23.

The investor of the project, Hoang Dat Silver Shores Exceptional International Entertainment, said that it has invested 1.6 billion dollar in building the complex which includes the casino and the five star resort with 584 rooms, 52 villas facing the sea and other services.

 

The casino has the capacity to hold hundreds of people, providing the services such as Baccarat, Blackjack, Sic bo, Roulette and Caribbean Stud Poker.

 

This is the first large scale casino in the central region.

 

The investor of the casino said that the casino will target the players who are travelers from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In the first phase of operation, there will be two flights from Guang Zhou (China) per week which will bring guests to the casino, commencing from January 15, 2010. Another air route, also departing from China, is being considered.

 

Under the current laws, only foreigners and Viet Kieu (overseas Vietnamese) are allowed to play at casinos.

 

Felix Zhang, General Director of Silver Shores International Resort, said that the resort will open next month in the first phase under which 270 hotel rooms will be put into service.

 

The resort not only will target foreign travellers, but will also attract domestic guests. The project is expected to become fully operational by July 2010.

 

According to the Da Nang Culture, Sports and Tourism Department, the city has received some 1.3 million travellers in 2009; two thirds are domestic travellers

 

Da Nang and its surrounds are famous for tourism sites such as Hoi An ancient town, My Son relics, and Hue – the ancient capital. Therefore, it has attracted a lot of well known hotel names like the InterContinental Hotels Group, Accor, Life Resorts and Hyatt.

 

According to Savills Vietnam, a market survey firm, Da Nang now has 3-star and more luxurious 23 hotels and resorts which provide 1,700 rooms. It is expected that in five years, 42 hotel projects will join the Da Nang market which will provide 7,000 3-5-star rooms.
