VnnNews – Youth Theatre will be putting on a production in Ha Noi to celebrate World AIDS Day and Viet Nam’s Action Month for HIV/AIDS Prevention.

This is the first time a Vietnamese professional art organisation has held an event to support World AIDS Day on December 1.

The main part of the performance will be the drama Stereo Man II: Fragments of Darkness, which is about young HIV/AIDS patients.

The drama is based on Stereo Man, which was directed by Filipino director Acnes Locsin and performed by the Youth Theatre.

Stereo Man is a drama about a young man with HIV and another man who wishes to have a sex change. They both suffer the mental and physical pain of being ostracised by society.

The production, which was performed at universities across the country over the last two years, has been widely acclaimed.

“The drama was warmly received by audiences, especially young students. Some of them were really moved by the production,” But Nhu Lai, the director, said.

The UN-sponsored World AIDS Day theme this year is “Universal Access and Human Rights”, while the theme in Viet Nam is “Co-operation in AIDS Prevention”.
