Hanoi saw the highest number of infections with more than 8,000, a 15-fold increase over last year’s level.
The Ministry of Health said that dengue fever has become increasingly prevalent in the last ten years with an infection ratio of 120/100,000. Around 40 percent of suspected cases in Hanoi are confirmed to have actually been infected with the dengue virus. As for the rest, it is still unclear what virus is causing the disease.
