Activities to boost Vietnam-Russia relations scheduled

VnnNews – Vietnam and Russia will hold a number of activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties in late January, 2010.

At a meeting on January 2, the President of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association (VRFA), Dao Trong Thi said various activities will be held to promote the friendship between the two nations, particularly the 92nd anniversary of Russia ’s great October Revolution Day and the 65th commemoration of the victory against fascism.

The Association will focus on building the statues of late President Ho Chi Minh and Russian astronaut Gherman Stepanovich Titov at Ha Long Bay and opening the exhibition of Russian universities in Hanoi.
The President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association (RVFA), Vladimir Buyanov, said that his organisation had been granted the status of a federal mass organisation in 2009.

One of the most successful activities of the RVFA in 2009 was to expand the friendship between Vladivostok and the northern port city of Hai Phong , Ekaterinburg and the central provinces of Vietnam . It also started to restore the traditional relations between St. Petersburg and Ho Chi Minh City, Yaroslav and Da Nang, Ulyanovsk – the hometown of V.I. Lenin and Nghe An – the birthplace of President Ho Chi Minh.
